Welcome to Texas’ Last Frontier—where the stars shine bright and safety shines brighter!

Howdy, Adventurers!
Welcome to the wild and wonderful Big Bend—where the stars are big, the canyons are deep, and the only traffic jam you’ll hit might involve a javelina or two. Before we head out into this stunning corner of Texas, let’s go over a few safety and security tips to make sure your trip is as smooth as a saguaro cactus (okay, not that smooth, but close enough).

Hydration Is Your New Best Friend
The desert doesn’t play around, y’all. Even if it feels cool or cloudy, your body is losing water faster than you’d think. Bring more water than you think you’ll need—then pack a little more. If your bottle’s empty and your guide’s still smiling, it’s time to refill!

Watch Your Step
We’ve got all kinds of wildlife out here, from roadrunners to rattlesnakes. Stay on marked trails, avoid sticking your hands in cozy-looking holes, and let’s all admire nature from a safe distance. The goal is to observe, not disturb—and definitely not to surprise anything that hisses.

Critters and Creatures—Oh My!
Big Bend is home to some incredible animals, and while most of them want nothing to do with you, it’s best to give them space. Coyotes, snakes, javelinas, and even the occasional mountain lion roam these parts. If it moves, buzzes, slithers, or stares at you from a distance—let it be. No selfies with scorpions, y’all.

Footwear Matters, Friends
This isn’t the beach, and flip-flops are not your friend out here. The desert terrain is rocky, uneven, and occasionally home to things that bite, sting, or poke. Closed-toed, sturdy shoes or hiking boots are the way to go—your feet will thank you, and so will your guide (trust us on this one).

Sunshine Is a Sneaky Beast
Even the shade takes a siesta in Big Bend, so lather up with sunscreen, wear a wide-brimmed hat, and bring your coolest sunglasses. You’ll thank yourself later when you’re glowing in your photos instead of glowing red like a pepper.

Stick With the Group—We Like You!
Big Bend is big—like, really big. It’s easy to get turned around if you wander off solo, so let’s use the buddy system and keep the group together. If you need to step away, let your guide know. We’re all here to have fun, and nobody wants to end up as a desert mystery on a park ranger’s clipboard.

With a little preparation and a lot of adventure spirit, you’re all set for an unforgettable journey through one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Let’s hit the trail and make some memories!
